Fast for Farmland begins at sunrise October 19 on the outdoor premises of the Innate Healing Arts Center at 18700 Woodward Ave. Tom Milano (aka Adiraja dasa), intends to fast from food until "one million dollars manifests to purchase farmland" in Whitmore Lake, twenty minutes north of downtown Ann Arbor. He proposes that this farm be the first of an eventual state wide network of organic produce and small dairy farms, teaching about restoring ourselves and Mother Earth, creating good jobs, boosting the local economy, preserving farmland, serving as healing centers, providing sanctuary for animals, and operating their own chain of fast-food vegetarian restaurants. He's also praying for another million dollars to establish a restaurant on the east side of Detroit, and one on the west.
Tom is prepared to fast on water for up to three weeks, or whenever the farm is purchased. We have a shared vision and action plan: beautifully designed, drive-thru, sit down restaurants that will benefit everyone by making the most tasty and nutritious food affordable to all! As the fast unfolds, please bring your ideas, business proposals, dreams and prayers, and join the discussion. Let’s celebrate, be grateful and pray that God’s Will be done!
MISSION STATEMENT The purpose of Fast for Farmland is:
To share in the idea of a chain of farms and restaurants working together to serve the needs of the people and the planet. Benefits include: 1) To provide everyone with fresh, naturally grown food – the best food possible! The public can purchase produce directly from the farms, and the restaurants will provide the most tasty nutritious affordable food preparations. 2) Both farms and restaurants will be centers where people can share information and teach about restoring our health and the health of Mother Earth. They will be equally customer and employee friendly, and provide unlimited rewarding, healthy, and good-paying jobs. 3) Buying locally grown and manufactured food products will help boost the economy and reduce our dependence on petro chemicals. 4) This program highlights the importance of preserving farmland and protecting the natural environment. Each farm will be an animal sanctuary and nature preserve. 5) The farms will offer beautiful rural settings that allow people to experience the therapeutic benefits of nature. 6) Both farms and restaurants will be 100% green, totally energy independent, and Earth friendly in every way. 7) One central policy will be that no one goes hungry, so food will always be available to those in need.
